A roller-coaster final series will now be decided in the final game in Los Angeles on Thursday night.

This is a vital game for both teams, as the winner takes a commanding 3-2 series lead. The Celtics will be playing their final home game of the season tonight, so emotions will be high tonight. Boston stepped up in a big way in the 4th Quarter of Game 4 to ultimately tie up the NBA Finals with the Lakers at 2-2. More specifically, the Celtics bench stepped up to the challenge and helped defeat the Lakers. F Glen Davis and G Nate Robinson breathed life into this Celtic squad, as Boston outscored the Lakers 36-27 in the decisive 4th quarter.

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics will both be trying to pick up a win on Thursday when they battle at TD Garden. Kobe Bryant went for 29 points & 7 rebounds to lead the Lakers over the Celtics 91-84 in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night. Derek Fisher added 16 points for the Lakers, who now lead the best-of-seven series 2-1. Kevin Garnett had 25 points and six boards for Boston, while Paul Pierce scored 15 points for the Celtics.

The Lakers had lost, 103-94, to the Celtics, and in the process lost home-court advantage as the best-of-seven series that is knotted at 1-1 shifted to Boston for Games 3, 4 and 5. The Celtics were able to hold on in Game 2 because they held onto the ball. Some of the Celtics’ biggest turnovers on Sunday came in the last 2 mins of the second quarter, when the Lakers cut a 54-41 deficit to 6 points. Kobe Bryant stole the ball with 3 secs left & hit a 3-pointer — then stole the inbounds pass but missed a 3 that would have made it a 3-point game.

The Celtics simply didn’t get the benefit of the whistles in Game 1, which was called tightly all around. But early foul trouble, especially for Ray Allen, took Boston out of its rhythm. Boston’s reserves had been playing well, but, other than Rasheed Wallace, the Celtics got little out of their bench. The Lakers, meanwhile, withstood an off game from Lamar Odom because of good, aggressive play by Shannon Brown and Jordan Farmar.

The Western Conference Finals head into game 6 tonight as the Lakers and Suns square off in Phoenix. Los Angeles has a 3-2 series lead and can secure its second consecutive trip to the NBA Finals with a win this evening at the U.S. Airways Center. The Lakers barely escaped disaster on Thursday night as Ron Artest, who scored just four points in the pivotal contest, banked home a shot at the buzzer to give his team a 103-101 victory. The win was the seventh in a row for Los Angeles against the Suns at the STAPLES Center, but it was a much closer call than the previous six, which the Lakers won by an average of 17.2 points per game.
